New Year Greetings 2011

Mask Performance at the Ball of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Musikverein, Vienna, 20.1.2011

Dear friends,

first of all I wish you a very happy and successful new year!

Before I am heading to Venice to write on my book about Commedia dell'Arte and Mask Theatre, which will be published at the Facultas Edition in September, I will be performing once again in Vienna with my group.

Where and when?

Believe it or not, at the Ball of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, which will take place on the 20th of January at the Musikverein in Vienna.

How come?

René Staar, the composer and first violinist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, has composed music for a Mascerade of 30 minutes after having been inspired by my mask collection. We will be presenting the world premiere at midnight on this ball.

Who exactly is "we"?

This is Florentina Kubizek, Elisa Überschär, Raphael von Bargen and myself behind masks from Italy, Bali, Japan and Switzerland -

and of course the Breughel Ensemble, all members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Dieter Flury, Tamás Varga, Stefan Gottfried and  René Staar.

Come in a long evening dress, in tails or in uniform!

See you there!
