Newsletter 5/2013

Dear friends and companions,

after an inspiring and exciting collaboration with the Teatro Yuyachkani in Lima, which meant for me the encounter of a new artistic family, and an intensive working period at the Escuela Nacional del Teatro de Bolivia in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, founded and wonderfully managed by incredible Marcos Malavia, I've returned to Vienna. Several new projects are coming up here, to which I would like to invite you most cordially.

„Cycle Passions“, 31.5., 1.6., Strenge Kammer, Porgy&Bess, Riemergasse 11, 1010 Vienna

On the 31st of May and 1st of June, 7 p.m., the cycle „Leidenschaften“ takes place at Porgy and Bess, artistic director is Katharina Weinhuber. I'm engaged as a performer in the dance theatre „Sacré“, directed by Katharina Weinhuber and contributed the short film „Fremdkörper“[foreign body] to the cycle, which I shot with Therese Cafasso, puppeteer Rebekah Wild, cameraman Tobias Dorffner and costume designer Ingrid Leibezeder. Renald Deppe will play live music to the film, which will be recorded together with all ambient noise and added as a soundtrack subsequently.

„Winter Journey - a forced march“, 21.-23.6., Brick 5, Fünfhausgasse 5, 1150 Vienna

The next Capriccio of my new founded music theatre ensemble "Schlüterwerke" deals with Schubert's song cycle "Winterreise - Winter journey", which we will confront with Hitlers battle of Stalingrad against the soviet troops he was loosing exactly 70 years ago.
The loneliness and the desires of the soldiers will come to life through the poems of Wilhelm Müller as well as Miklós Radnóti, a hungarian poet who had been shot during a forced march in 1944. His poems had been found in his jacket after his corps had been disinterred.
We play the music by Schubert and the transcriptions of Franz Liszt

San Ignacio

Last but not least a small sensation: I've travelled to the Jesuit missions in Bolivia's jungle, founded in the 16th century, and searched through their archives. I knew of the Tyrolean Jesuit priest Anton Sepp, who came to South America in the 17th century, in order to teach the Guarani indians baroque church music. As I discovered there, they composed instrumental music – and, as I had hoped for, operas. I happened to come across such musical works and acquired the performing rights. It is the story of Ignaz of Loyola, which I want to present in Vienna next spring.
