Spring 2015

Dear friends and companions,

the new year has already brought a number of dynamic events.

First of all, our son Noah was born, keeping us pretty busy!

But also on stage and behind the scenes we have been active. My ensemble Schlüterwerke showed the production Zensur - Die drei von der Tankstelle in Switzerland in January with great success.

On the 1st of February, for the fourth time, the European Theater Day For Tolerance took place with the participation of more than 800 theaters, operas and concert houses in Europe, the United States of America and Latin America. On this occasion a manifest for peace, tolerance and curiosity has been read to the audience.

Although the ensemble "Schlüterwerke" will not receive public fundings for the year 2015, we will actively create productions in the coming weeks. This is why we rely on your contributions, following the principle „pay as you can“, which we share on even parts among the participants.

As always, I look forward to welcome you at our performances!

With warm regards,

yours

Markus Kupferblum

and the DVD can be purchased for 15 €. If you cannot come personally, the DVD may be sent to you by clicking on „answer“ and writing a short mail.

„Venus on Broadway“, Schlosstheater Schönbrunn, 28.-30.5.2015, 19h30

Inspired by „One Touch Of Venus“ by Kurt Weill, I wrote a musical for the Max Reinhardt Seminar of Vienna. We see Kurt Weill rehearsing his successful musical „One Touch Of Venus“ in the year of 1943 with world politics as a background. Confusions of passion magically play into the rehearsal, merging love affairs in the rehearsed play with those in real life.

Together with Klaus David Erharter, Ingrid Leibezeder, Hans Kudlich, Ismael Ivo and the students of the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna, we will stage this production with music by Kurt Weill, Cole Porter and Marc Blitzstein.

Film project „Winterjourney – a forced march“, Subscription

After showing our Capriccio „Winterreise – ein Gewaltmarsch“ in three series with great success as well as on tour, we longed to capture this project on film. The idea was to create a film version – instead of just a filmed theater play – which we shot in nature on the fields of southern Vienna.

Since we are not supported by public funds, we now face the situation of having completed the shooting (in order to still play in snow), but still need 1000€ for post production and copies of the DVD.

This is why we have decided to start a pre-sale of the film. For 25€ you can purchase a signed copy of the film. As soon as we have raised the missing amount, we will finish the film and you will receive your DVD. If you are interested, please reply to this newsletter and send a short mail.

We are happy to announce that Linde Waber has agreed to have one of her paintings of the Winterreise production put on the cover of the DVD.
