Bild Rutgers

Dear friends and companions!

The year 2018 and my residency at Rutgers University in New Jersey came to an end. I spent a great time in the USA and was extremely happy also having been invited to give lectures at the Columbia University and at Hunter College. It was a great experience.

Back in Vienna the new year is starting with numerous events. I would be delighted to meet you on any of these occasions:

Bild Theatertag Toleranz

1 February 2019: “8. European Theatre Day of Tolerance”

The deplorable political development in most of the western world unfortunately increases the necessity of our initiative “European Theatre Day of Tolerance”. Not only in Austria, also in other European countries, the United States of America or Brazil, politicians had been elected who are showing an incredible and almost daily increasing amount of hatred, greed and incompetence in their political performance. Now the civil society is challenged to defend the values of freedom, democracy and reason.

Being an artist, I feel the distinct responsibility to reveal these dangerous developments.

Please help to spread our memorandum, which will be read before the performances in more than 800 theatres worldwide. You can find it in three languages on my homepage. european_theatre_day_of_tolerance.pdf

Her universal knowledge in various styles and traditions of music and her friendship with great artists will enrich our audience as it does regularly on radio.

We will be talking about music, language, poetry and reality.

Pictures at an exhibition

23 February 2019, 15:00: Pictures at an exhibition by Mussorgski
Konzerthaus, Wien

At the Wiener Konzerthaus I will present together with Gioia Osthoff and the Aureum Saxophonquartett a children’s version of “Pictures at an exhibition” by Mussiorgski.

I am very moved by the fact that two of these paintings by Hartmann of the end of the 19th century show “Jews of Sandomierz”, a small polish town, where my family has lived until the Second World War.
